Fibertex is expanding operations

Fibertex Nonwovens, Inc. is expanding its operations in Laurens County and expects to bring 39 new jobs to the area with a $49.5 million investment.

Fibertex is a manufacturing company, specializing in spunlace products, mainly for the wipes industry.

Also called Hydroentanglement, spunlace is a bonding process for wet or dry fibrous webs made by either carding, air laying, or wet-laying, resulting in nonwoven fabric, according to sourcenonwoven.com.

The expansion in Gray Court will include a second spunlace production line.

It's expected to be finished by 2023.
